That’s why we offer a fast and efficient 24-hour Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) service to help you obtain the necessary certification quickly e.g C100 form. Our team would be happy to provide the level of service you need so you can head to family court without delay. Give us a call to discuss your needs.

The Process

Sometimes, mediation may not be suitable for your particular situation. Your solicitor may have advised you to obtain a certificate (C100) to provide the courts with evidence that you have attempted mediation. In such cases, our fast turnaround MIAM service can help you move forward with the court process without delay.

When you book a 24-hour MIAM with us, you’ll meet with one of our accredited FMCA mediators, who will assess your case and determine whether mediation suits you. If mediation is not appropriate, our specially qualified family mediator can provide you with the required certification (C100) quickly. Our mediator will sign the relevant court from and email it to you or your solicitor on the same day as your appointment. This way, you can submit your application as soon as possible and move forward with the court proceedings.

Why Are MIAMs Important?

Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs) are crucial in the mediation process for various reasons. MIAMs allow parties to understand the mediation process and the advantages it can bring to themselves and their family. This is particularly important because mediation can be a less confrontational and less expensive alternative to going to court.

MIAMs help the mediator to assess whether the parties are suitable for mediation. This assessment is important because mediation may not be suitable for all cases, especially where there is a history of domestic abuse or one party is unwilling to participate. These mediation sessions also allow the mediator to identify potential barriers to success. This includes any issues that may prevent the parties from being able to communicate effectively, such as language barriers or cultural differences. By identifying these issues early on, the mediator can take steps to ensure that mediation is successful.

Finally, attending a MIAM may be a legal requirement in family matters before a court application can be accepted. This requirement is designed to encourage parties to attend mediation as an alternative to court and to ensure they are fully informed about the process before making any decisions. Speak with our accredited family mediators today if you are unsure if these mediation services are right for you.

What Happens During The Assessment Meeting?

If you attend a MIAM, you will meet with a trained mediator who will explain the mediation process and answer any questions. They will also take the time to understand your situation and assess whether a mediation session suits you. The meeting is confidential, and you are under no obligation to commit to mediation at this stage, and no financial arrangements need to be made. If you proceed with your first mediation session, the mediator will explain the next steps and arrange a suitable time that works for you.
